EuroVelo 13 - Iron Curtain Trail

The southern part of the EuroVelo 13 route from Sallatunturi southwards is still under development. The end point in southeastern Finland will be at Virolahti before the route crosses over to Russia and then to Estonia and onwards to central Europe following the historical Iron Curtain border. The southern part of the EuroVelo 13 route in Finland, around towns such as Kuhmo, Imatra and the area between Lappeenranta and Virolahti, have great museums focusing on the history of defending Finland’s borders.

We recommend cycling the Northern Section of the EuroVelo 13, which is already developed. However, for both of the routes you need to use digital navigation.
